BRAD RICHARDS

Strolling Violin

Brad Richards is the director of orchestral studies and department chair of music at Reading High School, where he has taught for the past fourteen years.  Mr. Richards received a bachelor’s in music education, with a concentration in violin, at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  He has studied with Jennifer Moe (Pittsburgh Opera/Pittsburgh Ballet), Stanley Chepaitis (Indiana University of Pennsylvania), John Blake Jr. (University of the Arts) Ken Gehret and currently studies with Margaret Hey.

Mr. Richards has performed with the Johnstown Symphony, Reading Pops Orchestra, Bridge String Quartet, Genesius Theater, Berks Chamber Orchestra and many local high school musicals.  Some of the venues he has played at include Scenic River Days, Berks JazzFest and both the Berks/Lyons Fiddle Festivals.

Brad and his wife Vivien reside in Exeter Township, where they two children and five cats. He enjoys playing volleyball, bowling, pickleball and ping pong.
